Spoon-billed sandpiper/Skjesnipe - South Korea
This is one of the most sought after birds by birdwatchers. The population is decreasing fast, from a few thousands a decade ago to only 200 individuals in 2010. The decrease is mainly due to destruction of wintering habitat, by building industry and agriculture land as well as polluting the mudflats where this highly specialised species can find food.
Habitat: Tundra in summer, mudflats, shore.
Behaviour: walking, foraging.
